The people of South Hams are facing many serious problems that need urgent action. We need a Council that recognises the urgency and has thoughtful, effective and ambitious plans to address issues like the lack of social and really affordable housing, the emergency that is climate change and biodiversity loss, the inadequate power distribution infrastructure, the real problems of rural poverty and isolation, the inadequate cleaning of our streets, and many other problems.
To deliver the policy programme will also require changes to how the Council is run. Elected members need proper oversight of projects and able to work as a team with officers. There needs to be a clear understanding that by delegating powers to officers the responsibility remains with members.
The manifesto (which can be viewed via the button below) is a result of input from many individuals and organisations, and if on 4 May 2023 the Lib Dems group win control of the Council, and the good people of West Dart return me as their representative, then I will work tirelessly to deliver the policies it outlines.
If you are using an older device or browser, it is possible you will encounter problems viewing the manifesto. If you do, the button below will work. The formatting is not quite so good but it is not too bad and all the internal links work.
